Precious Metals and Other Exquisite Waste

All art is political.

These works are made from what we discard, consume and leave behind. They speak about ecology, consumption and the strange systems we have created to decide what is valuable—and what is worthless.

I am fascinated by the paradox of preciousness: an artwork can be worth millions, while the material it is made from may have been considered worthless moments before. I don’t believe in that hierarchy of value.

I believe art belongs to everyone. It can be bought, of course, and artists need to make a living. But its greatest value is not its price. It is what it can make us see.

These works are statements before they are commodities. They are meant to enter people's homes, provoke a thought, shift a perspective—and perhaps make us look differently at the things we throw away, and at the world we live in.
